Arts-oriented daycare centre Pilke Väinämöinen opened in a new log building in Hämeenkyrö
Art-oriented daycare centre Pilke Väinämöinen opened in a new log building in Hämeenkyrö in August 2019. In the ecological log building, children and early childhood educators get to enjoy fresh indoor air, good acoustics and the calm, peaceful atmosphere created by solid wood elements. Väinämöinen provides warm-spirited, high-quality, child-centred early childhood education and care for 75 children.
Education at daycare centre Väinämöinen emphasises arts. The purpose of the art and expression-orientation is to foster the children’s creativity, curiosity and experimental attitude. The various forms of artistic expression are implemented in the daycare centre’s everyday operation through visual, verbal and bodily expression. Our activities also include music and drama as well as trips to museums and exhibitions whenever possible.
In addition, we naturally reserve time for other versatile activities, such as singing, making trips, handicraft and painting, not to forget sufficient daily rest. Everyday pedagogy is part of every moment of the daycare centre’s operation. It is present in pausing to wonder things together; counting peas in the salad bowl or experimenting with colours when painting. We value each unhurried moment we get to spend conversating, playing or just being silly while exploring the world together.
