Pilke science-oriented daycare centre Planeetta

Pilke opened a new daycare centre in Hämeenlinna in August 2019. Pilke’s science-oriented daycare unit Planeetta provides high-quality child-centred early childhood education and care at a warm-spirited daycare centre.

At the science-oriented daycare centre, we focus on exploring and wondering natural phenomena that arouse the children’s interest. Depending on the children’s ages, the activities may involve studying space or the states of water, admiring rainbows or building three-dimensional objects. The exploration of phenomena is an educational form of play that provides children with experiences of success. For example, the daycare centre’s play facilities are designed in a way that motivates and encourages exploration and experimentation. The daycare centre is equipped with a scientific play space where the young professors can conduct their studies with pipettes, loupes, test tubes and magnifying glasses among other fascinating instruments.

At the science-oriented daycare centre, we find it important that the children learn to discover and explore and are provided with experiences of success – without forgetting the significance of play. The activities are planned taking account of the children’s ages, interests and safe courses of action. We emphasise wondering and exploring phenomena together with the children. We naturally reserve time for other versatile activities, such as singing, drama, handicraft and painting, not to forget sufficient daily rest.

Pilke Planeetta is starting a family café event once a month starting from 18.2.2020 at 15.00-17.00. The family café is an open meeting place for children and adults of all ages. The event’s activities include science oriented activities. You don’t have to sign up for the family café. Feel free to join us whenever your schedule allows. The events are held in the daycare center. Welcome!
