Nature-oriented daycare centre Pilke Ulappa opened in the Lohja Housing Fair area in August 2021
Pilke Ulappa provides high-quality child-centred early childhood education and care at a welcoming daycare centre with 54 places for children aged 0–5 years.
New collaboration to connect generations
Daycare centre Ulappa is located next to a sheltered housing unit in a communal service property that combines early childhood education, housing for the elderly and nursing services.
The property has communal facilities that enable spending time together across generations. We believe that shared outdoor activities and play bring joy to the everyday lives of both the children and the elderly when allowed by their condition.
Plenty of outdoor activities, come rain or shine
At nature-oriented daycare centre Ulappa, children participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities in any weather. We place emphasis on wondering and exploring various natural phenomena and making nature trips.
The berry bushes, trees and cultivation boxes in the yard are used for teaching the children ecological thinking and natural cycles.
Imagination, recycling and the use of nature’s gifts in play and learning are an integral part of the nature-oriented daycare centre’s everyday operation.

Daycare centre doors open. Welcome! We start the day with a hug and have a chat. Then we gradually start to play.

Breakfast

Small group activities indoors and outdoors.

Lunch, followed by a rest. Some of the children sleep or rest while the others go outside. After the rest, it’s time for quiet play and activities.
