Pilke Nature Daycare Sirius is Located in Kirkonvarkaus

Daycare Sirius opened in October 2018 in Kirkonvarkaus, Mikkeli. Sirius provides high-quality, child-centered early childhood education and preschool in a warm and welcoming environment for children aged 0–6 years.

Exploring the Local Nature

Sirius is a nature-focused daycare, where children develop a positive attitude toward nature and learn about sustainable living. Outdoor activities are a key part of daily life, regardless of the weather. The daycare has its own sheltered yard, and the surrounding area offers wonderful outdoor spaces. We explore the local environment through walks and excursions in forests and parks, expanding the children’s learning environment. Our area provides diverse opportunities to study natural cycles and seasonal changes.

The forest is an excellent playground for children, offering nearly limitless opportunities for play, movement, and creativity. Childhood and youth experiences in nature have a lasting impact throughout life.

Diverse Activities in Line with the Early Childhood Education Plan

Our activities naturally include a wide range of experiences, such as singing sessions, excursions, theatre performances, arts and crafts, and painting—without forgetting moments of rest. Pedagogy is present in every moment of daily life at the daycare. It means pausing together and marveling at the world: counting peas in a salad or experimenting with colors while painting. We value every unhurried moment spent talking, playing, and being silly—exploring the world together.

Our customers have rated us

Pilke day-care centre customer satisfaction survey, 2025: “I am satisfied with the early childhood education and care of my child” (on a scale of 1 to 5 where 5 means best).
