Families use Daisy to send us information such as childcare bookings and absence notifications.
Usva is a private day-care centre with vouchers. Apply for a service voucher on the City of Oulu website and for a day care place with Pilke application for early childhood education.

We opened the new science-oriented daycare centre in Pateniemenranta in August 2023
The science day care centre Usva opened in Pateniemenranta in August 2023, offering a wide range of early childhood education in a functional day care centre with 66 places.
Wonder and discovery
Usva is a science-focused daycare centre, where the focus is on exploring and wondering together about phenomena that emerge from children’s ideas and interests. Depending on the age of the children, this could be looking at the shape of water, exploring the solar system, wondering about rainbows or building three-dimensional objects.
Science education for children under three is based on sensory stimulation, observation, wonder, questions, stories and fairy tales.
A research playground for little professors
The learning environments in the nursery are designed to attract and encourage exploration and experimentation. For example, the nursery has a separate exploration play area where little professors can carry out their investigations with pipettes, slides, test tubes and magnifying glasses.
The nursery’s courtyard, the surrounding area and various excursion sites also serve as good places for research. Through play and activities, children learn to discover, experiment and experience success.

Daycare centre doors open. Welcome! We start the day with a hug and have a chat. Then we gradually start to play.
