Pilke music-oriented daycare centre Nuottisilta

Pilke’s music-oriented daycare centre Nuottisilta opened on Annankatu Street, Tampere, in January 2017. The daycare centre has 48 places for children aged 0–5 years. We have two larger child groups, both of which have been divided into three small groups. All of our groups are named after musical instruments.

Pilke Nuottisilta’s operation is based on the participation of the children and their families as well as on high-quality interaction which takes account of the individual needs of each child and family. Nuottisilta’s operation is also participated in by a parents’ committee which organises various family activities and events. Nuottisilta applies the principles of small group operation which enable attending to each child individually. We adapt our learning environment together with the children so that it meets their needs and interests.

At Nuottisilta, music plays an important role in all everyday situations. The essential building blocks of our music-oriented education include songs, singing games, rhymes, playing instruments, musical movement and music listening activities. We design musical projects on the basis of the children’s wishes and interests. Our objective is to provide the children with musical experiences, capacities and skills. We also encourage the children to start longer-term musical hobbies.
