Pilke DaisyFamily

Pilke Tähtisumu is a science-oriented daycare in Leinelä

Pilke Tähtisumu is a two-story, science-focused daycare that opened in Leinelä, Vantaa, in August 2019. Tähtisumu offers high-quality, child-centered early childhood education in a warm and welcoming environment.

Outdoor play in all weather

At Tähtisumu, children are encouraged to develop a positive attitude toward nature and a sustainable lifestyle. Outdoor activities are an essential part of everyday life, regardless of the weather. The daycare emphasizes exploring and wondering about natural phenomena, regular excursions, and spending time in nature. Creativity, recycling, and making use of natural materials both in learning and as play equipment are important elements of the daycare’s daily life.

Educators support and guide children in expanding their curiosity and thinking through various projects that connect different areas of learning.

Exploration Spaces for Little Professors

Our daycare is designed with a variety of play areas that inspire curiosity, encourage exploration, and support hands-on learning. Children can carry out their own “research” using tools such as pipettes, magnifying glasses, test tubes, and lenses – just like little professors at work.

Diverse activities based on the early childhood education curriculum

In addition to science-inspired play, our daily activities include music time, outdoor play, exercise, arts and crafts, painting, and, of course, moments of rest. Learning requires energy, so children are encouraged to relax and recharge. While napping is not mandatory, everyone is given a quiet time to calm down.

The surroundings of Leinelä offer many excellent outdoor areas and public parks, which we visit frequently. Although we follow daily and weekly routines, we keep them flexible so that children’s voices and ideas are taken into account in everyday life. For us, it is important to give children time to wonder, explore, and learn with the support and guidance of caring adults.

At the Vantaa Pilke units, we also offer families the following:

  • We often go on snack excursions.

  • We take annual daycare photos of the children and groups. Some of the photos are free of charge for families.

  • Throughout the year, we organize many events for both the daycare and the whole family. Sometimes, we also invite grandparents and other close relatives.

  • Celebrations are important to us: we usually hold spring and Christmas parties as performances, and we celebrate each child's birthday, as well as Father’s Day and Mother’s Day.

  • Many of our daycare centers have an active parent committee that anyone interested is welcome to join.

  • You can follow the activities of our children’s groups on Instagram.

Our customers have rated us
