Pilke Tuulentupa is an At Home in Nature-certified daycare centre in Nivala
At the nature-oriented daycare centre Pilke Tuulentupa, children of all ages exercise and participate in outdoor activities in accordance with the At Home in Nature concept, come rain or shine. We have 32 daycare places for children aged 1–5 years. In the autumn of 2017, Tuulentupa was awarded the Finnish Outdoor Association’s At Home in Nature quality label, and our everyday operation complies with the concept’s criteria. At Tuulentupa, the meals are prepared on the spot by our own cook!
The group of 1–3-year olds bustle downstairs where they practise basic everyday skills, play, sing and learn manual skills adequate for their age in an unhurried manner that takes account of the children’s wishes. We practise focusing on play and sharing with friends. A warm hug is always available for anyone who needs it.
The group of 4–5-year-olds upstairs already know the everyday routines and are able to, for example, fetch their cutlery and portion their meal independently under the educators’ instruction. Thursdays and Fridays are preliminary pre-school days on which five-year-olds practise exercises that prepare them for pre-primary education and participate in other activities aimed at children aged five years.
