Nature-Inspired Everyday Life in Orimattila

Pilke Nature Daycare Kotimetsä is located in a pleasant area close to the center of Orimattila. Our small daycare provides children aged 0–5 with a safe and welcoming place to grow, learn, and play.

At Kotimetsä, every child is valued as an individual, and daily life is built around a child-centered approach—unhurried, attentive, and genuinely present.

Nature as a Daily Learning Environment

At Kotimetsä, nature is an essential part of every day. We regularly explore nearby forests and parks and discover the surrounding environment together with the children.

We spend time outdoors in all kinds of weather. Our sheltered playground and the varied natural surroundings provide a safe environment for movement, play, exploration, and discovery.

In nature, children have the opportunity to experience, experiment, and make their own discoveries. At the same time, they develop an understanding of the natural world and learn about sustainable choices—skills and values that will support them well into the future.

Endless Opportunities for Play, Movement, and Creativity

The forest offers children limitless opportunities for play, physical activity, creativity, and imagination. Our local environment provides a rich setting for exploring nature’s cycles and observing the changing seasons throughout the year.

Surrounded by nature, children’s imaginations are free to flourish, and learning takes place naturally through curiosity, exploration, and hands-on experiences.

A Diverse and Child-Centred Everyday Experience

In addition to our focus on nature, everyday life at our daycare includes a wide range of enriching activities. We enjoy cultural experiences and encourage creativity through arts and crafts, painting, and other hands-on projects. Rest and relaxation are also valued as an important part of the day.

Our activities are guided by Finland’s Early Childhood Education and Care Curriculum and by the child’s active role as a learner. Play, interaction, and learning together are at the heart of everything we do.

Our daycare is staffed by skilled and dedicated early childhood education professionals. We continuously develop our pedagogical practices, and the expertise of our teachers supports learning and well-being across all child groups.
