Playschool Merikatti is a bilingual daycare in Kivenlahti
Playschool Merikatti is a small and cozy bilingual, international daycare located in Kivenlahti. We provide high-quality, child-centered early childhood education in a warm and welcoming environment for children aged 0–5.
A foundation for lifelong language learning
In our English-language groups, we implement extensive bilingual early childhood education in accordance with the new national core curriculum. The aim of bilingual early childhood education is to make use of children’s natural sensitivity for early language learning by offering them more diverse language education than usual.
Children are given opportunities to acquire languages and use them actively and playfully. At the same time, we build a foundation for lifelong language learning. The goal is that working in a multilingual environment awakens children’s linguistic curiosity and desire to explore. This approach also allows various cultures to meet naturally within early childhood education.

Greetings from the Manager of Playschool Merikatti!
My name is Ivika Banerjee, and I’ve been working in early childhood education for over ten years. My journey began during my university studies in Estonia, where I started working as an unqualified teacher. Since then, I’ve completed a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, with my thesis focusing on how children learn language through play—a method I continue to champion in my work.
After five years of working in Estonia, I moved to Finland and began teaching in a bilingual kindergarten. For the last ten years, I’ve worked in various English-speaking early childhood settings, growing into leadership roles and eventually becoming a daycare manager.
I believe that learning is a lifelong journey—the more we engage, the more we realize how much we can grow both personally and professionally. In our daycare, we value a positive attitude, genuine care, and playful activities that support every child’s development. Play is like a universal language; through play, children practice essential skills, express themselves, and build meaningful connections.
Our team is dedicated to creating a warm, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every child is known and valued. We work together to ensure that families feel confident and welcomed from the very first moment.
We look forward to growing and learning together with you!
