Our learning orientation
At a nature-oriented daycare centre, children develop a positive attitude towards nature, outdoor activities and sustainable living. Nature plays a central role in early childhood education through exploring and wondering at natural phenomena, regular excursions, and time spent moving and playing outdoors.

Fees

Our daycare center accepts the City of Espoo’s service voucher. Read more about it here!

The client fee is between €0 and €311 per month, which is the same as in municipal early childhood education.

The fee is determined based on the value of the service voucher, which depends on the family size, income, and the child’s early childhood education hours.

The daycare participates in the City of Espoo’s pilot program offering 20 hours of free early childhood education per week for 5-year-old children. For more information, please contact the daycare Manager.

Siru is also a service voucher daycare in Kauniainen, and families from Kauniainen are welcome to become clients.

Science-Oriented Daycare in a Log Building in Lintuvaara, Espoo

Pilke Daycare Siru is located in a beautiful natural setting in Lintuvaara, Espoo, in a log-built daycare building. Siru provides high-quality, child-centered early childhood education and preschool education for children aged 0–6 years in warm and modern facilities.

Parents often praise our daycare for its well-designed spaces – purpose-built for early childhood education – and for the fresh indoor air provided by the log structure. (Read more about it in this article!)

Outdoor Play in All Weather

Siru is a science-oriented daycare where children learn a positive attitude toward nature and a sustainable way of living. We spend a lot of time outdoors, regardless of the weather. Our daily activities emphasize exploring and observing natural phenomena, regular excursions, and moving in nature. Creativity, recycling, and using natural materials as learning and play tools are an important part of our everyday life.

Our educators encourage children’s curiosity and guide them to expand their thinking through various projects that connect different areas of learning.

English-Speaking Group

Siru also has an English-speaking group for children aged 2.5–5 years. The group’s main language is English, and visual supports are used to aid language development and communication. The group’s educators include an early childhood teacher, a Bachelor of Social Services, and a childcare professional – all English-speaking.

Exploration play space for little professors

The learning environments at our daycare are designed to encourage curiosity, exploration, and experimentation. At Science and Nature Daycare Siru, there is a dedicated exploration play space where little professors can conduct experiments using pipettes, magnifying glasses, test tubes, and lenses. The daycare’s yard, nearby surroundings, and various excursion sites also provide excellent opportunities for hands-on exploration. Children at our science and nature-oriented daycare learn through play and activities, discovering, experimenting, and enjoying a sense of achievement.

Diverse activities following the early childhood education curriculum

The educators at Siru are attentive and close to both children and parents. It is important to us that every child feels seen and heard during play and learning moments. Our activities also include a wide variety of other daycare experiences, such as singing sessions, theater performances, arts and crafts, and painting sessions, all balanced with rest periods. You can also get a glimpse of daily life in our groups through our Instagram page!

English club for daycare children

In January 2020, Pilke Siru started an English club for children aged 3–6, organized by Kielikoulu Masto. The English club takes place during the daycare day and uses high-quality, pedagogically designed digital tools.

Kielikoulu Masto strongly believes in starting foreign language learning as early as possible — numerous studies support early childhood as the ideal time to begin, as children’s motivation and sensitivity to learning a new language are at their highest.

Family café on Wednesdays

Pilke Science and Nature Daycare Siru hosts a family café, an open meeting place for children and parents of all ages. No prior registration is needed — families can drop in at a time that suits their schedule. The café offers a relaxed and friendly environment for coffee and socializing while children play. It’s a great opportunity to get to know the daycare and meet other local families!
