Our learning orientation
In language enriched early years learning, we use English alongside Finnish as a natural part of our daily routines. With the children, we explore familiar songs, rhymes, and basic concepts in English, while singing, playing, and wondering about things together. This is a warm, supportive start in a Finnish speaking environment, with familiar English moments throughout the day.

Pilke Taikapirtti Offers English-Enriched Early Childhood Education in a Warm and Welcoming Daycare

Pilke Daycare Taikapirtti is located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, with excellent transport connections at Konalantie 6, 00370 Helsinki. Taikapirtti provides high-quality, child-centered early childhood education and pre-primary education for children aged 0–6.

At Taikapirtti, children play, sing, and engage in physical activities every day. The daycare has its own gym and a large playground. We focus on creating a calm play environment where children are guided to act as members of a group and to take others into consideration.

At Taikapirtti, we offer children the joy of play and the delight of learning in a safe environment. Both children and staff enjoy their time at the daycare—read more to find out why!

Getting Familiar with the English Language

Our daycare offers language-enriched early childhood education in English, and pre-primary education when needed.

Together with the children, we practice familiar songs, rhymes, and concepts by singing and exploring in English.

Language-enriched early childhood education is a lighter version of bilingual education. Its goal is to support language learning, motivate children, and diversify their language choices. It can also serve as a pathway toward language-enriched, immersion, or other forms of bilingual pre-primary and basic education.

When children are introduced to different languages at an early stage, they develop strong foundational skills for language learning. We encourage children to use English while also recognizing the importance of their native language. A strong mother tongue forms the basis for all learning.
