Pilke sports-oriented daycare centre Ilveslinna

Pilke’s sports-oriented daycare centre Ilveslinna opened in a beautiful log building on Ilveslinnantie Street in Turenki in August 2018. The daycare centre has 120 places for children aged 0–6 years, and it also provides pre-primary education. In the ecological log building, children and early childhood educators get to enjoy fresh indoor air, good acoustics and the calm, peaceful atmosphere created by solid wood elements.

Pilke Ilveslinna is a sports-oriented daycare centre, whose objective is to help children find the joy of exercise and adopt a sporty lifestyle. The sports-orientation is implemented in the daycare centre’s everyday operation through trips, daily yard games, weekly musical movement activities and instructed exercise. We also provide the children with opportunities to try various sports, such as swimming, junior wrestling and cycling.

We naturally reserve time for other versatile activities, such as singing, trips, drama, handicraft and painting, not to forget sufficient daily rest. Everyday pedagogy is part of every moment of the daycare centre’s operation. It is present in pausing to wonder things together; counting peas in the salad bowl or experimenting with colours when painting. We value each unhurried moment we get to spend conversating, playing or just being silly while exploring the world together.

Since 29 March, Pilke Ilveslinna has organised family café events every other Friday at 9.30–11.00 am. The family café is an open meeting place for children and adults of all ages. The event’s activities include pleasant, relaxed time together, coffee for the parents and games for the children. The programme also includes instructed group activities, such as singing, rhymes, play, exercise and sing-and-draw games, among other activities.
