Pilke Kultaseppä is a nature-oriented daycare centre for children aged 1–6 in Nummela, Vihti

Nature-oriented daycare centre Kultaseppä is close to both nature and the services of Nummela. Kultaseppä is located within children’s walking distance from forests, parks and a wetland where the University of Helsinki conducts research. In the wintertime, our close surroundings offer excellent opportunities for sled sliding and skiing. A large part of our play and exercise activities take place in nature through exploration and adventures. At the nature-oriented daycare centre, the children learn a positive attitude towards nature, outdoor activities and a sustainable lifestyle.

Pilke Kultaseppä provides high-quality child-centred early childhood education and care in a warm-spirited atmosphere. Our small, cosy daycare unit has two groups. We encounter each child genuinely, taking account of their individual needs. Our operation is based on small group activities and to listening to the children’s ideas. Everyday phenomena experienced and perceived by the children form the cornerstone of learning.

As Kultaseppä is a nature-oriented daycare centre, the children get to familiarise with nature by studying plants and animals. We explore the seasons’ effects in nature, and spend time outdoors, come rain or shine. At the nature-oriented daycare centre, children are introduced to recycling through versatile activities. Imagination, recycling and the use of nature’s gifts as part of play and learning are an integral part of the daycare centre’s everyday operation. The joy of active life and exploration reflect in the children and our activities. Our operation naturally involves plenty of other versatile activities, such as exercise, music, handicraft and painting, not to forget sufficient daily rest.
