Pilke Pyramidi is a Montessori daycare centre in a naturally beautiful region of Oulu
Pilke Pyramidi is an Oulu-based Montessori daycare centre that provides early childhood education and care for children aged 2-5-years. The daycare centre is located in the naturally beautiful Toppila, by the yard of the Terva-Toppila manor. The lush, natural yard and the meadows, brooks and forests surrounding the manor provide an ideal setting for outdoor activities and exploration during both summer and winter.
According to the principles of Montessori pedagogy, we always endeavour to support the children’s holistic growth (physical, psychological, social, cognitive and emotional development). Through holistic growth, children become responsible and active members of the community and develop a healthy self-esteem and open mind towards new challenges. In accordance with the motto of Montessori pedagogy, “Help me do it myself”, children are active individuals, and adults’ task is to provide support and assistance in the background.
Our operation naturally involves plenty of time for versatile activities, such as singing, drama, handicraft and painting, not to forget sufficient daily rest.

Daycare centre doors open. Welcome! We start the day with a hug and have a chat. Then we gradually start to play.

Breakfast

Small group activities indoors and outdoors.

Lunch, followed by a rest. Some of the children sleep or rest while the others go outside. After the rest, it’s time for quiet play and activities.
