Pilke Sini-Emilia

Pilke Sini-Emilia provides homelike early childhood education and care for 35 children in the Korttionmäki residential area of Riihimäki. We have designed our operational environment together with the children, creating an adaptable, colourful learning environment that encourages children to play and explore in a child-oriented manner. As all the children’s toys and equipment are easily accessible them, they can always come up with plenty of inspiring activities.

Everyday pedagogy is part of every moment at Sini-Emilia. It is present in pausing to wonder things together; counting peas in the salad bowl, experimenting with colours when painting or practising good manners through singing games. Thus, we value each unhurried moment we get to spend conversating, playing or just being silly while exploring the world together. Our objective is to provide the children with a safe, homelike environment where a warm hug is always available and there is plenty of time for play. Each child is allowed to grow at their own pace, and every personality is regarded as beautiful and unique. We encourage the children to try their best as well as to accept the diversity of people. 

Our operation emphasises taking account of the children’s needs and respecting their rights. Together with the parents, we discuss the best way to foster their child’s potential and strengths in a manner that takes their interests into account. This teaches the child to make the most of their strengths. They steadily grow into an independent individual who can rely on their skills and dares to dream. A child who is happy to attend daycare is the best feedback for our personnel – their happiness shows the quality and value of our work. 

Pilke Sini-Emilia was selected as Finland’s best daycare centre in the series of units with less than 50 early education places, and we achieved an outstanding recommendation index reading of 95. The title was awarded as a result of the Suomen Paras Päiväkoti (Finland’s Best Daycare Centre) survey.
